Floridian turned Texan, for the past 11 years Houston has been my home. I made my way here from Miami, FL (born and raised) for pediatric residency training at
Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital in the famed Houston Medical Center. After training I immediately began working as a board certified pediatrician
for Texas Children's Pediatrics where Shadow Creek Ranch has also been my home for the past 7 years.
But let me take you back to where the inspiration began. In high school I was accepted into HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) where I was encouraged by my teacher, Mrs. Mobley, a registered nurse and educator, to consider becoming a physician. From there I went on to the University of South Florida for undergraduate education and majored in Biomedical Sciences, and after 4 years there I went to medical school at Florida State University College of Medicine (FSUCOM); this is where the inspiration for pediatric medicine came to be.
My aspiration every day I go to work is to make sure I not only "do no harm" but do more; more to promote wellness by educating my families on safety and healthy living.
I always knew I would
work with newborns and infants either via Neonatology or Obstetrics; however, my affinity for all children alike was sparked after completing a pediatric rotation at
FSUCOM's Ft Pierce satellite campus. I met some of the most resilient children with amazing energy and courage that out measured their adult counterparts. To
be a part of a united front to assure the health, wellbeing, and future of such dynamic beings only fueled my drive more. My aspiration every day I go to work is to
make sure I not only "do no harm" but do more; more to promote wellness by educating my families on safety and healthy living. More to prevent serious illness and
disease by providing up to date facts and informing on vaccinations. More to serve comprehensive, well thought out and researched care for all of my patients.
To date
I have taken on a new endeavor and goal to further see what I am capable of doing as a healthcare professional with my own practice. I have partnered with Dr. Kareen
Smith and we will be opening Wonderfully Made Pediatrics, PLLC in the fall of 2020. We pray this pediatric practice will be a stepping stone for greater service not
only to our communities, but to nations through medicine, philanthropy, charity, and mentorship.
